DESCRIPTION

A semi-experimental narrative film in which a young woman seeks help while trying to come to terms with her sexuality, only to be shut out by all except her friend.

NOTE

An experiment in creating a sort of stream-of-conscious and dissociative feeling within filmic storytelling, I was inspired by the work of Maya Deren and the physical act of cutting 16mm film on a Steenbeck machine to create a film that captured the bewildering feeling of coming to terms with oneself as a queer person and feeling the erosion of your supposed support systems. While I have mixed feelings on the result, this was undeniably an important learning experience as I continued honing my filmmaking craft, and it’s one I can look back on with some fondness, particularly as an exercise in analog filmmaking.
