Robin

Description

A teenager, unwillingly cast as the male lead in a coming-of-age film, runs away in search of their real identity. In accepting help from those around them, they begin to discover who they are while charting a path forward.

Personal Statement

Robin is, in many ways, the film I was so desperately looking for when I was a lonely middle-schooler with no clear path forward just trying to figure themselves out. It’s the film I needed to see and could never find, and it’s the film that I became a filmmaker to make. Transgender youths have so little to give them hope, to tell them it’s okay, and to tell them that no matter how confused and overwhelmed they feel, there’s a way forward. I’m intimately familiar with that lack of positive messaging, and this film is just the beginning of my goal to try and change that. It’s my hope that as many people as possible can see this film and spread the word that it isn’t hopeless. One day, somehow, you’ll make it through all the uncertainty. It’ll be okay.
